We had to show up to Battalion almost 8 hours before their flight took off, to draw weapons and make sure everyone was accounted for and ready. Then we waited around until 2:30 in the morning to say goodbye so all the soldiers could get on the bus to take them to the airport to fly out.
Their flight ended up taking off late, about 7 am, landed in Germany where Donovan was able to get on Skype and say hello for a few minutes :) They had a layover there for a couple of hours before moving onto Kuwait. This afternoon he was able to get online again at the local Starbucks there on the base to let me know they got to Kuwait and are settling in.
