KUWAIT

Hello from Kuwait! I have been in the dusty desert here for a couple of days and things are going really well. The flight over from Texas was rediculously long! We stopped over in Germany on the way and got to stretch our legs for a couple hours, which was nice. I drank a Mezzo Mix, which if you don't know is like Coca Cola, basically.

Kuwait serves as a training post for soldiers as they prepare to move North into Iraq. Since I missed the unit deployment, though, my stay here will be much shorter than normal so I can hurry up and meet up with my company. The heat here was a little weird to get used to. It was 115 degrees when we stepped off the plane, but it is a dry heat so I haven't been sweating as much as I did in TX, oddly enough. We are living in 16 man tents right now, but our air conditioning broke this morning! Not pleasent. So, we had to move all of our stuff to another tent just so we wouldn't cook ourselved throughout the night.

Anyways, there is a Starbucks here, which is how I get internet access. There is also a large PX and other eateries including Nathan's hotdogs, some place called Pizza Inn, and of course your normal fast food of Burger Kind and Taco Bell. I've been staying away from those though and just eating DFAC food, which is a great assortment as well.

Not too much to complain about really at this point. Just soaking in the experience. It is only day 3 though, so I'm sure after a while I'll find something that bothers me :) I guess this is all for now. I'll post more pictures soon once I start doing more exciting things in Iraq.
