I found this trunk on craigslist for $75, so I bought it to clean up and refinish. It will definitely keep me busy for a couple months to come.
The picture above is just after a good scrub. I started to rub some of the tarnish off of the tin and the metal connectors to see how easy or hard it is going to be. This is going to be a lot of work. The tin has a gold sheen to it, that would be a nice surprise if it turned out that way.
The tin is cracked in a couple of places, but other than that is in good shape. It used to have coasters on the bottom, but only two have made it this far. I might just replace the wood on the bottom and add some wooden feet to even it out.
Other than that, it will be a lot of scrubbing off rust, old varnish, getting off as much tarnish as I can, and then fixing it up with some new stain and some poly.

Other than that, the inside is in good condition. I am going to need to strip all the paint off, and will probably just sand and poly the wood instead of repainting it.
