If it was central time I would have won the birth time guess pot, but now I need to send Jason the $10 we all owe him. I think he had some inside knowledge that makes his vote void, but at least I know my $10 will more than likely go to diapers for Keira :)
I have been trying to keep my days busy so I don't spend my days sitting on the couch watching NCIS or other random TV shows I have recorded to fill my time. I have bad days and good days, depending on how I feel when I wake up in the morning, which is the hardest part of my days. It also isn't helping that I have been having trouble sleeping since Donovan left, so I have been staying up until 3 am or so and not waking until almost 11 am most days. This past week I have been making an effort to go to bed early, before midnight, and waking up to my alarm at 9:30 am to get up and get to the gym in our apartment complex.
But I have been finding things to keep parts of my days busy. From doing random errands, wandering around IKEA, knitting, sewing, and helping my friend Kristi with whatever I can do for her wedding. I designed and printed her invitations, and this week I will be designing and printing the ceremony programs, I expect it will take a couple days and am looking forward to it. I am flying up north in two weeks to spend some time home, see baby Keira and Sue, and then to Carlisle for the wedding which I'm a bridesmaid and hopefully see some of the Groh's :)
I got a sewing machine last Christmas and have since taken it out of the box and even got it its own table and area in our wardrobe room. The other week I got this great book - "Chic & Simple Sewing" by Christine Haynes while roaming around Barnes&Noble. Since then I have been visiting some fabric stores in search of some great fabric to attempt to make these dresses...
Wish me luck! I have already attempted making a dress from a McCall's pattern. I found out when I was half done that I picked the wrong type of fabric (I needed one that had some stretch in it) and that my body does not fit one size on the top and bottom. So that got scratched! It was very frustrating and so much work gone down the drain.
Luckily Donovan and I have been able to talk at least once a day. The Internet in his room does not work all the time, and when it is working, it isn't great. So most days our video chats look like this ....
Sometimes he will be able to see me, I will see a static picture and will hear him fine, but he cannot hear me or it is delayed by a full minute or two. It can get quite frustrating. So most times we end up IMing and keeping the video open hopefully catch a glimpse of each other. He has also been calling me from his office on a phone card which sounds OK most of the time. Apparently they are installing new fiber optic Internet cables in all the rooms, so hopefully soon we can really video chat, which would be nice.
On a funny note: Baer has made the top basket (the 'IN' box) of my filing rack her new bed. She scrunches herself up in a ball and sleeps in one half, since there is a bar in the middle.
Funny kitty.
