No More Boxes!

The last two boxes are finally out of the apartment today, what a day.

We had a great journey to Texas, a rather pleasant 14 hour drive, however pleasant 14 hours driving can be. We found a wonderful 3 bedroom 2 bath apartment in a town (Belton) a little farther away from post than we were expecting, but we love it. There are trees and the people are so nice. When we walked into Wal-Mart the first time we were greeted!! and the cashier lady was even talking to us, having a nice conversion, it is the place for us and we are lucky to have found it. Unfortunately I do not have the yard I was hoping for, but I will make do with the nice porch we have off our  second floor apartment. There is room for my salad tables I will be making (I will do an update when I get that started!). We dropped the cats in the apartment so they could get used to the new surroundings while we headed home for a visit.

Donovan's parents were so nice to help us to come home to spend some time with our families before Donovan is set to deploy. We started out in DC with my family. We had a great time going downtown to the spy museum and a Nat's game and helping my sister shop for a prom dress. In Carlisle Donovan's family had a wonderful BBQ in which my family came up from DC to join in. It was a fun time and great for our families to see each other after our wedding. In Carlisle Donovan and I spent lots of time with his family and had fun driving around in their Prius. We are very grateful to have been able to come back home and see our family before my dad deploys to Afghanistan in June, my sister graduates high school, Logan gets married, my sister has her baby girl in August and Donovan deploys. Texas is farther away than we were before, not so much driving distance so that makes it harder.

When we got back to Belton, our household goods were delivered the next day. We spent the weekend getting the majority of the boxes out of the apartment, getting things put back together and organizing as we went, and are still doing. Things are slowly going up on the walls and finding a right place, but we are in no big hurry to stress out about it. Donovan started his in-processing this past Monday. He signed into his unit yesterday and got his deployment date of..... July 24th. All the June flights out are filled apparently, so we have a little more time together than we had first thought which is wonderful wonderful.

We also celebrated our 2 year anniversary this past Tuesday. Not that we can believe we have already been married for 2 years, together for almost 7. We have a tradition to go to the best BBQ place we can find on our anniversary since we had BBQ at our wedding. We ended up at The Salt Lick in Driftwood, TX the weekend before since we were in Austin and we saw a special on it on the Food Network. The best BBQ I've ever had, and it was BYOB which was funny watching people carry their coolers in and to the picnic tables. On our actual anniversary we went to Schoef's BBQ here in Belton. It was good, real good :)

This is a slideshow of some of the photos from our trip home that are on Picasa.
I will get some up of the apartment as soon as everything finds its place.
